March, 2010

Dear Ladies,

It feels a little bit odd writing something in January for the March newsletter as being the new president of the PILC, because at this moment I’m not elected yet!!

Having said this, I feel very privileged of getting the opportunity to be this year’s PILC president.  It will be a year full of new challenges for me; the first one will be to find enough people who are willing to take place in the Special Events Team.  We now have a chairperson in Bea Grunwell, who will lead the team.

For people who don’t know me:

I’m a 55-year old Dutch woman married to Hans, and together we have 3 adult children, currently living in the Netherlands and the UK.

We have lived in the Pattaya area since January 2008, and we love it.  Before our move to Thailand, we’ve been living as expats in Germany (Leipzig), UK (Leeds) and Oman (Muscat).  All of these places were different and fantastic experiences.  For me it’s really an advantage having the chance to live abroad and enjoy all different kind of cultures.  It opens up your mind.

Last year I was also a member in the PILC committee and, together with Monique van Deursen, organised Trips & Activities for our members.  At the moment (end of January) we are in the final stage of preparing our trip to India and we’re sooooo looking forward to it.  Unfortunately it will be all over when you read this newsletter, and the same applies to the wonderful celebrations of the Chinese New Year.

This year will be the year of the Tiger, and according to the Chinese people the tiger symbolises the female Yin energy, and it is this force that allows seeds to germinate.

So, with the help of all the ladies in our club, I expect it will be a fruitful year!!!

Kind Regards,  Anja
